I found the ending to be unsatisfactory, but I adored the spooky vibes and tense relationships.

a slow climb, but it felt worth it. I didn't find myself itching to read more, but I did find that when I was reading, the atmosphere was very spooky.
The main character lacks some dimension, but it was easy  to imagine yourself in her shoes. most of the book felt inescapably helpless, the author is excellent at creating a setting.
The story seemed set out of time. Later we get some information on the time, but the story is actually timeless. I do recommend it for those who like a creeping scare that sinks into your bones without actual direct action until the end.

Mixed feelings. An AMAZING concept that just wasn't executed as well as it could've been.
The setting was cool! I loved the isle and I loved the places this book put me in. The characters and their actions, on the other hand, are.... hm.
If you are just looking to not think too hard about what you're reading and just look at a nice place, this is a great book.

Julian and Scarlett's relationship forms VERY suddenly and it came out of nowhere. Scarlett was supposed to be very interested in the Count but this random sailor she catches making out with her sister is the one she falls for? Uh????
Their dad is super shallow. His only trait is “hurts children” lol. He reminds me of the teacher in One Of Us Is Lying. This man exists to be like “oh I'm... bad. I'm a bad guy, so! My personality is this bad thing I do!!!” Which... is kinda boring. I like more substance in my villians.
Legend was... cheesy. Super fucking cheesy. He was so cheesy and he was alsmost as much of a strawman as their dad was.
The other players barely existed. I feel like there wasn't enough conflict involving Scarlett vs. other players. The ones she did interact with were actors.

I really loved the background characters. Aiko seems really sweet. Julian could've been really cool. I think this book had amazing potential and it was an enjoyable read. You really gotta take off the thinking cap for this one, but it'd be amazing to pass the time between a real meaty, intense novel.

8Pretty Okay

This book was cool, providing you're looking to shut off your brain for a while.
Some things happen that arent exactly realistic, like how he just had a knife on the field. Where was it hidden? Does he have a thigh holster?
I dont understand Exy. Which is okay, I guess. Maybe I'm just not... sporty.
The Colombia Bits. Yikes. No one is gonna talk about how that was sexual assault, huh?
It was a great book to pass time, but dont think too hard about it and you'll be cool.

This book was good. Nothing deep, yeah, but entertaining. It's what it says on the tin.

I see a lot of people having issues with some of the content in this book, which is fair, to a degree.
I don't agree, though. With the first twist that happens, those things happen. We see growth from one of the characters people are bringing up and they become comfortable in themselves. I think that it was well executed.
As for the big twist at the end: I do have an issue with it, but it was a surprise nonetheless. It was done well, imo.

This next bit may be spoiler-y, so be warned. If you have issues with LGBT characters being outed or suicide, don't read the book.

I loved it. All the twists and turns were unexpected and pretty good. I loved it!
The action scenes were really good! I couldn't stop reading when there was danger.
If the book seems like your type of thing, try it out. It's worth it.

This book kept me turning pages. I wanted to know what was next.
I loved Aziraphale and Crowley together, though. They definitely have great chemistry and I kept wanting to know what comes next. I loved Newt!! He was great. This story is kind of driven by the characters and the situation more than plot, so if that's something you aren't a fan of, it might not be the right book for you.
The only reason this book didn't get five stars is because of the ending. It was.. disappointing? I'll talk about it at the end of the review, after the spoiler section.
If you don't want spoilers, but you wanna know if you should read this book: yes. I recommend it if you like character-based stories.
I'm gonna talk about spoilers, now. So. You're warned.

—–SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT—————–

****SPOILERS***********

The relationship with Shadwell and Madame Tracy felt like it came out of nowhere. Maybe I was reading their tone wrong, but, I dunno. It felt Weird?
The ending was, overall, disapointing. I felt like they built me up just to drop me off. They told me the pizza was on the way and the pizza man rang my doorbell empty-handed.
Maybe I was expecting an apocalyptic ending. Maybe I was really hoping for the apocalyptic ending. Something very Devilman. The world turning to ash, the sky raining fire. I don't know.
It felt too nice, though. Too “everything was okay, the end.”
I saw what they were trying to do. A quasi-reset where Adam steals the apples from the garden of Eden. Sure. I would've liked it more if it was different, but I don't know what changed to make to make it right.
I liked most of the book, though. I really enjoyed it. I think it's entirely worth the 400 pages.

THIS BOOK HAS ATTEMPTED RAPE AND TERMINAL ILLNESS IN IT, IF THAT WIKL BOTHER YOU DO NOT READ THIS BOOK
It had good parts and bad parts. I'll start with the bad
- Kate was really stupid sometimes. There's a part where something is blatantly obvious and she just doesn't see it.
- all the women that weren't the main character were flat
- It had some lulls, but it's not awful.
Good parts:
-Characters were interesting and believable
- I think it was a good story
- there were sections where i just couldn't put the book down
If you're looking for historical fiction and you're into murder and action, this will be your type of book.

Detach yourself from the series to read this. The TV series takes a lot of liberties and isn't really the same thing. This is why I chose to read the novel. Offred is likable. She deals with what's being thrown at her and she doesn't have a lot of choice in what happens to her.
The concept of this novel is brilliant. I only wish they expanded on the world before this.
I've seen some complaints about the lack of quotation marks. It didn't bother me at all, in fact, it made it feel a little more real. This novel is set up to sound like an inner monologue and it does that very well.
This was a good novel. I enjoyed how Atwood wrote it and the concept itself was great. If you enjoy speculative fiction, or you simply believe that this is a cool premise, give this novel a look.

Fun read!

I loved this book!
First of all, it involves minority characters that aren't a token black friend. There's disabled characters and characters of color. There's different types of people in this and I appreciate that.
All of the characters had real motivations, too. One of our antagonists has very valid reasons to start all that he does and it's great for that The antagonists aren't just “I'm doing bad things because I'm evil.”
If you enjoyed the Percy Jackson series, give this a read, but you dont need to know about the PJO universe to understand this.
I recommend this book if you want something fun to read.

It was okay.

The characters do seem to fall a little flat and the plot is something you've probably seen before, but it was okay. I enjoyed it mostly because I was looking for more content, since I enjoyed the musical.
Please note that the musical and the book have a different tone. That's not to say it's gritty or serious, but it definitely takes itself 100% seriously where the musical realizes what it is.
It's a pretty quick read and gives insight to what Jeremy thinks and feels in a more literal sense. If you want something like that, that's what this is.
I enjoy other stuff by Ned Vizzini and if you think the concept seems cool o you, it doesn't hurt to read it. Nothing's super offensively bad about it if you don't look too closely.

I loved this novel and read it in one sitting.
I loved the characters, as well as the story. If you're into hearing about greasers, running away, and their struggles, this book will be good for you.

In short, Candide offers a story of a fun journey with funny characters and interesting concepts. I recommend it for its comical situations and its commentary on life.

Candide is an interesting story of a stupid boy learning about the world around him and how to navigate life.
He's torn from his idyllic noble life and immediately thrown into the harsh realities of the world. He learns not to take everything he's told to heart and through various trials he begins to understand the world around him.
Candide is a good novel. I enjoyed it. The commentary of the church, philosophy, and society was interesting, and I recommend looking out for that.

I can't do this anymore. Our main character is haughty and writes this book as it he were t h e coolest man to ever wait tables. His homophobic jokes and weirdly not-racist-but-close-enough characters are wack. Having him talk down to every woman is wack.
Im a waitress. I get it. I get how awful customers can be. That's what I thought this book was about. Turns out it's just some dude with an ego talking about how cool he is. Pass.
Apologies for any typos, I just don't want anything to do with this anymore.

I think the book is nice, to a degree. The first half had my attention and I wanted to know what was going to happen, but by the last 100-50 pages I just didn't care anymore. Things felt stretched out and the perspectives started getting weird.
I'm going to reread this book. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mental space for it.
