I picked this book up without knowing anything of the title or the author while I had a couple of hours to kill. A few days later and I am in absolute awe - the story is beautifully told, the prose atmospheric. The characters feel so real - regardless of their flaws, you can not help but empathise with them.

What I found most fascinating was how the book subtly explores how small actions can have huge implications; how things said and things left unsaid can impact so many lives; how the way you behave and your choices in everything you do or don't do can ripple out to everyone you care about years later.

This she realises, is the basis of his fear, all fear. That a light you are powerless to stop will turn on you and usher a bullet to its mark.

Everyone has misplaced someone.

Beautiful, heart wrenching, heart warming and very funny at the same time.
