So good! I probably would give it 4.5 stars because there were parts where the passages got too long and I had to skim, but overall an amazing story. So much on love, heartbreak, spirituality, revolution, intertwined in a story that I couldn't put down.

3.5 stars. The book went on for far too long but the twists and turns were interesting and I'm a sucker.

This was my first book of hers and it felt like I devoured it. It definitely went on about 100 pages too many, but I loved the story and the way it was written. Curious about the other books in the series now.

It was kind of predictable from the beginning, but interesting story layout to move backwards in time. I appreciated the different viewpoints expressed.

3.5 stars. The story was well written but I started to get lost on the family tree with the jumping back and forth. Good book overall.

I loved this book. There were definitely points at which I felt like it took too many pages to keep the story moving but overall I enjoyed the twists and turns so much. Would definitely recommend.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the storytelling and timelines set. Quality read.

Not my favorite of the series.

I don't know I feel about this book. I skipped many pages of what seemed like unnecessary details, I was a bit troubled by the idea of trans-racial operations being written by a white man, and I didn't really get the point or the end. It wasn't awful but didn't feel like a good read either.

3.5 stars. The writing was fantastic, the descriptions alluring. But the white privilege and selfish decisions throughout were difficult to overlook. Felt like a more modern, much more complicated Eat, Pray, Love even though honestly, they are nothing alike.

I love this series but was finding this book to be a little slower than the others initially with all the talk of Quebec history. Turned out to be so much better than expected.

So good! Finished in 2 days. Plenty of twists and turns that I was not expecting when I started the book.

When will Goodreads give us half stars?? 3.5. Interesting research, and definitely not what I'd expected from the brief spiel I'd heard about it.

3.5 stars? I liked it enough to plow through it in a couple of days, curious how everything would turn out. Overall I liked how the characters were fleshed out, even if it did feel like it took awhile to address some of their history. Solid read.

I couldn't put this book down. I was thinking 4.5 stars but it was so good, I erred on the side of rounding up.

It wasn't great.

Initially I thought, the plot isn't good but the language written around it was beautifully written. About halfway through I abandoned that notion simply because of how stupid the narrator was. The book had a lot and nothing happening at the same time. I really wanted to like it.

It was...fine.

I hated Liz. HATED her mother. The random race drops were annoying. But I'm a sucker for romance so I saw it through to the end.

I want to give it 2.5 stars. It was a quick read, corner boy story that was more hood novella than the crack community documentary style I was expecting going in.
