I was able to listen to this entire book on a drive. I’ve been really appreciating revisiting. The Goosebumps books were a lot of fun when I was a teen, and they’re still a lot of fun now.

For this particular one, I’m super glad I re-read it because I remember loving it but I’d forgotten nearly everything about it.

That ending though…yikes

My first impression was “ooh, it’s like if Freida McFadden wrote Predator.”

My impression at the 2/3 mark was was “ooh, it’s like if Freida McFadden wrote Predator.”

Then came the ending. I figured the author had written herself into a corner. “Yup… This is lame. Oh wait. But what about? Oh. But why didn’t she? Oh. But why would…? Oh. But, ummm…ohhhhhhh.” Without getting too spoilery, Coates subverted my expectations. Kudos.

What a great premise with a horrendous finish :(

I quite loved this. I’d seen the movie but had never read much of Barker’s canon. My only gripes are that it could have been longer with more detail on Midian and that the sex scenes were really awful.

I love me some Hailey Piper. I didn't love this book, but I'll still read anything she puts out. Something was missing for me plot-wise, but it's always a good time regardless.

DNF at 8%. Truly truly awful.

This was a really short, quick read but it was fun. It started off really strong and then ending was pretty good. The middle really didn't make much sense to me. I dunno, the Lovecraftian stuff was just...eh. Cool concept though.

I liked this book. I didn't love it like others, but that's OK.
