See allThis book is now my favorite. It's also the first book for which I've wanted to write an actual review. Patrick has such a way with words, it's difficult to describe. While I wouldn't say I'm a voracious reader (My wife is), I read a bit and love words and their usage. Reading this first book has made me realize that my pipe-dream of writing a book one day is moot. I'm nowhere in the same league as Mr. Rothfuss and could never be.
The book itself is told as if you were the author's close friend, sitting in a tavern, documenting his every word. The story jumps between past and present at a pace that is refreshing and comforting. As noted by other reviews, the concept of βmagicβ in this series is so amazingly well-crafted that it's a wonder someone else hasn't thought of it (perhaps they have). It makes for an exciting read and I can't wait to read the next in Kvothe's story.
