Decided to read before the upcoming adaptation premieres on AppleTV+ and I'm glad I did.
It's fast-paced and engaging, not as shallow as it may seem.
In terms of Sci-Fi, it wasn't anything exactly groundbreaking and I wouldn't mind a bit more exploration of certain topics but at the end, similarly to other books by the same author, it's very visual and I'm looking forward to watching its adaptation.
What a nice surprise this was, loved listening to this.
It's the first collaboration between Brandon and Dan that I read/listen to and it was an absolute delight, hope there are more entries to the Dark One franchise.
The only thing i didn't enjoy was Sophie's character, mostly at the beginning. Found it to be too cringy and over-the-top, I almost DNF this but I'm glad I persevered as the character improved, otherwise I wouldn't have enjoyed it so much!
Where the first book (EotW) ended like it didn't know if a sequel would exist, this one (TGH), on the other hand, embraces the world and mythology, advances the plot, gives more character moments and has a proper ending of a book that knows it will be a series.
I'm fully engaged now and looking forward to the next one, “The Dragon Reborn” (TDH).
What a journey!
Jumping from Mistborn Era 1 to Era 2 was weird at the beginning. A different Era, different characters and a different tone. The beginning didn't feel as epic (i knew it would be hard to top). However, reading was fast and addictive, I very quickly read books 4, 5 and 6 and it was definitely worth it.
Once again, great characters. To be honest, even better than Era1 - more mature maybe?
All in all, I'm happy I stuck with it an read the first 3 books in Era2 of Mistborn (there's 1 more coming).
