The main character is lovable, and this book is a bittersweet interweave of two sides of humanity. Even though it talks about a great tragedy, there are moments of humorous escapes which tries to soften the blow, and they succeed too. Above all, it moves you, makes you think. Might read again.

My rating might be biased, because I have been a huge fan of the author's other works for a long time and I kinda knew what I should be expecting, but regardless I can say that this would be a fun read for anyone. The book has humor, sci-fi and philosophical rants, with some outweighing the others. Just like the construction of his jokes, the author constructs sentences in his book with elegance. But life is about how it feels like right? And for whatever it's worth, this book might have made me feel lighter. Might re-read for the narrator’s rants and all those sentences that are soon to be sayings.

I was completely astounded by the turn the book took in the second part. It was nothing like I expected. The book is radical, very complex and surreal. Lots to think about. Yeong-hye is a very layered character. Others, not so much. Is turning against yourself the right kind of rebellion against oppression though? I guess everyone can decide for themselves.

Simple, practical concepts with straight-to-the-point narration and minimal fluff. This is the first self-help book I've actually read and this inspired me to check out other self-help books as well
