Ahhh! I know the writing is good when I don't mind a slow burn or a cliffhanger. The MMC here is like ACOTAR's Azriel & Cassian combined - love a hot jock shadowdaddy! Aside from the romance, the fantasy allows Hawley to grapple capably with some interesting issues - how to accept the reality of compromise without subverting your values to it, how power corrupts, and how to play to your strengths even as you are learning them on the fly. Excited for Book #3!
