I guess I can still call this “currently” reading. I've been reading it for months and had heard such great things about it. And so I kept slogging away because I keep thinking I'm going to enjoy it more. But that hasn't happened yet...don't know if I am going to keep going or not.

Even though Sarah gave this a 2, Jimmie just absolutely insisted that I read it, so I figure I'll give it a try.

The plot totally jumped the shark but there is still something to these books that makes them just so darn readable.

Gee is super insistant that I read these because we recently watched both Hellboy movies and I liked them. While I respect the idea of graphic novels, I haven't ever found an interest in them myself. Maybe this will be different?

Verdict: Not at all like the movie but pretty interesting nontheless. I'm actually sort of interested in reading more of the series. Maybe selectively getting into graphic novels?

I think this will be a really entertaining book for teens that enjoy fantasy and mythology or tall-tales. It's not as much about baseball as about the fantasy land Chabon creates and the relationship of father and son. I've had a few students read it that really enjoyed it as well. I'm glad Chabon is doing stories for teens as well!
