🎧 2026 Reread: Cameron Hawke. I still adore him and want to wrap him in a hug.
Story wise? This time around I was much more annoyed with the FMC.

This one has it all!!! Our heroine? A powerhouse of brains, brawn, and depth—basically Wonder Woman in book form. And the hero? Your next book boyfriend: smart, sexy, possessive, and all about his leading lady. The plot? A deliciously layered mix of complexity and emotion, with trigger warnings worth heeding. But if you crave alpha males, fierce females, steamy scenes, and a well-earned happily ever after, look no further!

I finished this book over an hour ago, but I needed a moment to breathe and process. Because WOW. HD Carlton just pulled me into the 1940s, and I swear I could smell the rationed coffee and hear the scratchy jazz records playing in the background. 🎷✨
This story felt like stepping into Pleasantville—where everything starts in black & white, and then color slowly bleeds in. And at the heart of it all? Gigi, our FMC, who absolutely shines. Her journey through wartime, self-discovery, and the quiet revolution of women waking up to their own power? Chef's kiss. 👏🏼
And then there's Ronaldo. Swoon. That man swept me off my feet! 😍🖤
HD Carlton did that. The world, the atmosphere, the emotions—it was all so vivid, and I was fully transported. Time travel may not be real, but this book sure made it feel like it was. 🕰️📖

🎧 Re-Read: Graphic Audiobook - Addie and Zade. Book 2 is equally as challenging as it was the first time I read this book.
For me, it doubled-down on Zade being at the top of my book boyfriends list. 🖤

J.F. Johns keeps proving she’s a wizard of world‑building, and Mal Blackburn? She’s the kind of FMC who delivers confidence, strength, and brilliance in a single glance—talk about a triple‑threat hero! I’m already counting down the days until the sequel, especially after that gut‑twisting cliffhanger (seriously, who needs coffee when you’ve got this kind of suspense?). I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

While set in North Carolina, I kept picturing it in the Pacific Northwest along with the Cat & Mouse Duet. There were a few elements in this story that felt repeated from the Cat & Mouse stories.
The domestic abuse is a large part of this story and I appreciated the author realistically handling such a difficult topic.
