The synopsis sounded good but the book totally fell short. Maybe a Brit would be more interested about an Earl or Lord or whatever they were, but an American really couldn't care less.
I'm the kind who has to finish a book even if I don't like it. This took forever to read cuz I just couldn't get excited about anything. The British slang was also hard to follow quiet often.
I'm glad it's over, it too a long time, and now I can move on to something (anything) better.

Kept me guessing right till the end.
Lots of characters, so a bit tricky to keep them all straight in the beginning. (I had to take notes!) But well worth it.
It was easy to connect with most characters, even the ones who turned out to be monsters.

I don't know if I got a crappy copy or what, but it was full of typos and other mistakes. It seemed like the author just gave up on any sort of proof reading after page 90.
Anyway, that's not why the 2 stars. The dialog was confusing, hard to follow, and just basically abnormal for a forensic pathologist. New characters were introduced way late in the story. There were only 169 pages and they were spaced out like a children's book. At normal type, this would have been little more than a short story.
I wanted to quit long before the end, I just didn't care about any of the characters. I only finished so I could write this review.
I doubt I'll read any more Patrick Logan.
