The FMC is insufferable to me. MMCs are interesting enough, the worldbuilding seems fun, but damn, Rose is such a nothing burger. It's a bit of a miracle I even finished it, bc I got stuck at ~85% and just... Lost interest. Probably will start the next one, but if this keeps up, I'll drop it.
Also, Lore my beloved, you deserve a badder bitch.
guys, I can't, it's too stupid, I'm sorry
my depression brain might've lasted longer than this, but I'm better now and this author is really not for me. literally nothing works for me, the insta-lust, the weird mix of fantasy and modern stuff, the weird pacing, nothingglad yall are having fun tho
The FMC was three different characters in a single skinsuit, acted differently in almost every scene. Also, too much mid smut, no plot, the chatacters were bland.
Hated most of the MMCs, read some spoilers about their behaviour later on in the story and, like, no thanks, yikes
the amount of handwaved SA in this book is franky astonishing
The gender politics in this one are SO BAAAAAD, like, NLOG misogyny, men treating women as sexual objects, just... YIKES
It reads like something published in early 2000s, not 2015, and that's not a compliment
Also, the political plot is an idiot plot, I swear. I was reading to fall asleep and got so mad about the whole “political scheme” Isla did (not tagging this as spoiler, it's literary mentioned on the second page) I couldn't fall asleep at all. Isla would be the worst right winger in the parliment, bestie ain't even SLIGHTLY subtle
holy hell the dub con in this is STRONG
I tried to force myself to finish it, but no way. I'm out. Fuck that guy
Also, I didn't make it to the library scene (or my epub was the edited version), so I only experienced the dubcon
Lost all interest the moment they went into the compound and it was all nice and chill. I literally don't know what the conflict is supposed to be at this point.
Like, sure, she has problems with her abilities, but that's not super interesting in the long run? The relationships also don't have all that much room to grow. The character development is also glacial and miniscule. It felt like a setup for a longer series, no way it could be wrapped up well with so little room.
I really enjoyed the first book, sad that's not the case with the other one :((
can't with the teenage FMC, she needs therapy, not some demons
stopped caring at all
Cat was just... not it besties
The relationship with her mom was so half-baked, it had so much potential but just... Didn't do anything
Also it was super dated. The romance was way too fast and the whole trafficking plot made Cat look super dumb. Like, girl, connect the dots???? How are you still alive, seriously
too trauma dumpy for me tbh
Bleh got boring after a while
I hated reading it and realized I simply??? don't have to???
The relationship is icky (and I actually really like dark romance, this one simply forgot the romance part and decided to go full on abuse and sex, nothing else), the worldbuilding feels like something done on a scrap of paper on a lunch break, and the time loops.... THE TIME LOOPS
I WILL NOT FORGIVE THE TIME LOOPS
We get almost nothing from them. Like, they're the reason I even picked up the book, and we get NOTHING.
The disappointment is so real
This authors books always feel so hollow after a point. Like, it literally made me cry (which was weird for a book like that in my case) and then I just... stopped caring suddenly
I did not care about the „omg but she was engaged to the other brother!!!” drama AT ALL
got bored and read a spoiler about an incoming fake out breakup sooooo
no thanks
it was cute while it lasted tho and “putting the D in PhD” is forever in my dictionary now
how many times can someone be describes as sexy in a single book challenge
the first two were engaging, over-the-top but in a fun, comic book way. this one dragged, got super repetitive and nothing really changed besides the FMC becoming yet another “badass sExY hot woman”. wasn't she supposed to be a tomboy??? when did she learn to walk in designer high heels???????
just bleh, not worth the struggle to finish it, i'm not that much of a masochist
This author might just not be for me, which is such a shame, bc I love their premises. But like, it's the second time there's a first sex scene at 60% and the FMC becomes weirdly boring and mushy the moment the MMC happens to show up/show affection. Like, this one specifically almost stank of vague conservatism??? Yikes????? Why did the FMC become so dependent right away????????? No thanks
tried coming back to this for a month, not happening
it's just kinda too silly and forgettable for me?? alpha shadow dragon prince is too funny to be taken seriously
also, I do not remember literally at all what happened in the half of the book that I did read, soooo...
not my cup of tea, got bored to death by the smut
FMC is bleh, MMC jokes about SA and I read the description of the next book so I can tell the story is absolutely not for me
stealing jareth's fashion is outrageous
also, the FMC is dumb as a rock and gets everything served on a silver platter, booooriiiing
Got bored, too predictable, too much gender essentialism, just kinda bland tbh
