the horror wasn't there and the romance was too there. this was a weird read. i didn't feel for any of the characters and there were too many introduced that added nothing to the story. the ending was so abrupt i thought my ebook was missing pages.
there were some fall vibes so i'll give the book that?
i enjoyed the concept, but i think it could have done with some prose chapters to flesh out the story more. some things were hard to follow, especially all the drama with haley's “friends” idk it was just missing something to help connect to the characters more
also, this book is formatted SO POORLY on kindle and definitely needs a quality check
This was so incredibly boring and I'm honestly surprised I finished it instead of DNF-ing it. I went with the audiobook again since I loved the first one so much, but the narration this time was so awful?? I'm not sure if I just missed it the first time around, but I feel I would have noticed such jarring issues with the narration. The narrator constantly slips out of her accent and it was so distracting. I switched to the ebook about 75% and that made it better because I could skim read this rest of it. In terms of the plot, I was let down. A forensic school seemed like it would be so fun and it just wasn't. The murders didn't interest me and I couldn't connect with any of the new characters. The romance was not at all what I wanted. The same arguments between Thomas and Audrey Rose kept happening over and over and I feel like they were useless and unnecessary as they didn't add any slow burn or angst at all. Basically the whole book was just one big disappointment and I'm sad I pushed myself to finish it.
The artwork is absolutely stunning! I find that fantasy graphic novels really aren't my thing because they're so confusing and it takes so long for me to adapt to the world and understand what's happening. However, I'm going to try to keep going with this one because of the art and little Kippa! Hopefully the next volume and a reread of this one will clear things up.
