See allThis book was a nice palate cleanser from the long series I just finished. I loved Andrew and Jamie, not just because good mlm representation in post apocalypse/dystopian fiction is so difficult to find. I definitely found myself experiencing the highs and lows of their journey as they happened and more than once realised my heart was racing as they fled or narrowly avoided disaster. The side characters were also great, even and especially those that didn???t actually appear in person and whom we only learn about through descriptions. Even those people feel vivid. I found it really helped me to get into Andrew and Jamie???s heads. Definitely a book I???ll be recommending.
This book does contain some slightly sensitive scenes containing a sexual assault against the MC. It is not graphic, nor does it go very far at all, but I feel like I should warn potential readers.
Otherwise, this is a pure, fairly wholesome, and definitely an easy read, I read most of it in one sitting and immediately ordered the next in the series. The illustrations are easy on the eye and definitely effective at conveying the emotion of the two MCs. Their relationship is absolutely adorable and feels very natural. Overall, this is a great book.
An all around good read! The characters are well fleshed out and interesting, I really enjoy the ADHD representation and Nick's relationship with his Dad. It's refreshing to have a protagonist with a pretty healthy family relationship. I also enjoyed the difference from the regular superhero fiction where everything is from the superheroes perspective, instead having being from the ‘MJ' perspective.
