Hot take: slurs are bad

Maybe I just have a low tolerance for them, but reading the f, r, and n slurs more than 50+ times, not even joking, just made me really uncomfortable. Genuinely one of them popped up at least every other page and had no reason to be there. It also had some (a lot) bad jokes about how he thought a girl was “special”, not the word he used, if you know what I mean, which is just

“But they died, as I am about to die, and what does having lived mean once you are no longer alive”

“I was forced to acknowledge too late, much too late, that I too had loved, that I was capable of suffering, and that I was a human after all”

This book goes from a community finding hope for the future to that same community dying from a lack of purpose and spirit in 10 pages, and then swings back to the other 10 pages later. But do NOT read this book at night, I regret it so bad

These are just so fun, genuinely not a single negative comment

“A road is never just a road.”

The only mention of Tulsa being how we burned our own highly successfully black community to the ground and then promptly rammed a 6 lane highway right through the middle of it is so Oklahoma

Nightblood was my favorite character
