I wanted to love this book but I felt like every interesting part of the story was quickly abandoned. Wanted to see more of imago machine but it wasn't as fleshed out as I was hoping. All of it just was kinda meh but at the same time there were concepts that I loved. Also I thought that revelation about murder mystery will be more impactful but it kind of was there. Nobody cared (especially me). Will continue with book 2 but not having high hopes now
Glad that I finally liked a book with fae because I was loosing hope. Very easy to read, romance was definitely not the main focus and I liked the original spin on plot devices that were seen in lot of books.
It reminds me of acotar and cruel prince but I didn't like both of these series but somehow it works here, will definitely continue and can't wait for second book.
I really enjoyed the whole story. First book is still the best in my eyes and it kept me intrigued and yearning was chef's kiss. I'm not sure why but The Bound Worlds didn't flow as nicely. Plot for me felt a bit chopped and like we're just marking checkboxes of plot twists. Fletcher became my favourite character thanks to this book. I'd love to read whole series with him as main character.
This was so bland. I usually don't care that much about writing being bad (although I appreciate beautiful prose). Book can literally have one element that I enjoy and writing is forgotten. But this book had literally nothing that made me feel any kind of way. Romances were not believable, stakes weren't really that high (maybe they would be if the motivations of characters were shown better), world building was non existent and because of that writing was really noticeable in a bad way. Even the ending didn't hook me and it was supposed to be twisty sequence of events that makes you want to read next book in series asap
This book was so bad but it was entertaining at the same time.
Ending bumped rating up for me. I was thinking of giving this book 2.5 stars because it was so cheesy, had so many typos, was unoriginal etc. This was basically Hunger Games without good commentary about society, rip off of Red Queen, and vibe of Selection for romance (this is reaching, I can't remember Selection).
but the betrayal was good, although very predictable. I swear if they actually end up together it's gonna be fucked up. There is no way in hell that people that killed each other's fathers will get flirty again..
Romance although cheesy an annoying at time (darling) had my feet kicking.
I will definitely continue the series but for everyone that wants to read this book don't expect anything great. It's basically the same vibe as every ya book 10 years ago.
I got so into this book and stayed up until 3 am. And then was a plot twist that made me uninterested in story for couple of days. I finally finished it but because I didn't want it to be left unfinished. Also I hate children in book but somehow some of the chapters where Juno was present were bearable
The concept of every personality getting its own body was great. The concept of mindlocks was great. Murder mystery great.
But the execution of everything was off. The book didn't flow. There was so much lost potential. Also murder mystery was underwhelming. I really only cared for Pain/Mercy and Firedrinkers(not only Oram) relationship.
I really enjoyed this book in the beginning. The writing was amazing but I felt that when focus shifted to love story author forgot about world around them. Love story was sudden, without any build up, and it happened just because girl met a boy (that isn't family) for the first time and boy talked to girl for the first time
The way women were written in this book is disgusting. And from reviews it seems like it's getting worse and worse.
Won't be trying another Murakami after this one
