A really well written and enjoyable sci-fi like horror. I loved the stories on the disease in the world, the monster in the deep and the well done gore. But most of all I loved that I was never like LUKE WHY DID YOU DO THAT?! he always did things that I thought were either smart, or were human and understandable. This is currently my favorite horror book, and would probably be my favorite horror movie if you can handle animal cruelty , body horror and an evil mum you should read this !
So so so good. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. It's so easy to read, you can't put it down. You get transported into the story. I think these books will always be my reread to get me out of a slump book because these remind me why I love reading. This book had alot of answers , there's still questions. But the figuring out what's going on and the twists are so good. I will always recommend this series !
Wow. I struggle to read the Americans dialect/accent but I can get the gist of it. If you want to read gore and shock horror. This is the short story for you. I wasn't expecting this going into it. It did make me cry a bit that animals were harmed I'd prefer if that was left out of it but I understand why it was in it it's just so much harder to read then a man being harmed or dying. It was well written and shocking. I recommend it if you can handle it.
My current favorite writing from bram stoker, after reading the lair of the white worm I didn't want to read anything more from him but this was really good, the last pages actually scared me and more then both Dracula and draculas guest ever did. The writing really put me into the terrifying situation and I loved the ending. Really recommend this read.
Don't read this, this book took me so long to read cause it caused a billion reading slumps. I just don't know how to DNF a book but I would've if I could. I just have it in my mind I have to finish every book I start and this one was the worst one l've ever read. The racism in this book even if it's just showing the time and how horrible it was back then was sickening. I don't know how it's still being published. The writing itself was badly done. The pacing was all over the place they'd go into pages of some useless stories and then the actual important parts were summed up in a paragraph. The ending was rushed like the rest of the important parts. I can't imagine a book worse than this one. Glad it's over.
I struggled to continue reading this book. But I continued for the hope that I would enjoy it more by the end, that I might understand it better. Though the ending was disappointing. The writing is well done but the story itself is not something that I enjoy. There still was a few interesting parts but I'm just glad I've finished it and I can move onto a new book.
There was many slow parts of this book, that were quite boring. Also pages which I could barely understand. Although the action parts were very well written. It took me a while to finish this book as when I got bored I had to take breaks. But I feel happy that now I can say that I've read this classic and can give my own opinon on this story.
The ending was just so good that it makes the whole book a need to read. The one person I thought ‘no it couldn't be' It was ! And the evidence behind it and what happened was just so well done. This is definitely a who dunnit for the pros to work out. I could just be dumb but it was so well done in my opinion.
I was completely baffled on who was doing the murders but even so I was so interested on who was going to die next and how they were going to stick to the nursery rhyme. I want to read the new version because I have the 1970 crime collection publish so it's with the original name and I want to know if the new name also changes much of the contents as well as there was quite a bit of words in there. I love how it was revealed at the end in a message in the bottle.
Was a bit hard for me to keep track of all the clues and so I struggled with my suspicions, which I realize is probably why I enjoy the series and movies more. With my memory issues. Though when it was all summarized in the end I was shocked as anyone else would be, I don't want to spoil anything In this review as I wish that everyone reads this and gets as surprised as I was. Incredible ending I ran around telling everyone the story.
This is such an amazing book, I was sucked in from the first page. My boyfriend bought it for me and I can't wait to make him read it. The entire time you're thinking one thing and then that twists and then you think another thing and that twists. There's just so many twists and I actually love the way it's done. I usually spoil in my reviews but for this book I could never, you have to read this with no idea what's coming and get on the rollercoaster cause omg I was gasping in the train whenever I read this. It's also so incredible reading it on the train because I'd pass the stops that were mentioned in the book as I live in Auckland. Loved feeling connected in that way. I honestly think this book is on my list of favorites and I can't wait to try and forget it so I can read it again and be just as shocked the whole way through. You will not want to put this book down. I just can't recommend it more.
I really enjoyed the book, I got really invested. I enjoyed it more then the first because it was an answer to so many questions. We got to see more kids use powers and get stronger with them. We got to see how kids created a government and how they controlled the horrible situation of famine. It was really well written I enjoyed the way that I was always wanting to know either how they will come up with the solution to this or if someone died. Like Drake shooting at Dekka I thought for sure she was dead but really Orc had saved her and again the Coyotes eating her, Diana hitting her head, Lana being part of the monster, Edilio being shot I thought omg they were all dead. But they didn't die. And the radiation! Except I really hope that Duck isn't dead and that he comes back in a later book.
I read this book when I was a lot younger and I just remember how it really scared me as a kid. SPOILER - The girl getting hit with a bat being the most memorable part of the book for me. Now that I'm older I'm interested in finding books that are scary and when I started to read this and found that part to be less scary although as I continued to read a lot of the parts began to give me chills. SPOILER - for example the kids that slow-mowed the boy disappearing, and seeing that it was a monster terrifying looking thing yet he was greeting it with a warm hug. That definitely was like wow chills for me aha. I really enjoyed the book and I'm excited to read the next one.
