The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate—Discoveries from a Secret World

I’ve had this book on my TBR list for a while, and decided to borrow it from hoopla a few days ago. It was a quick listen, ~7 hours but only ~5 with 1.6x audio speed. The narrator was good and it was nice to listen to especially as I hiked and was around nature. It was interesting to learn how trees function, sometimes similarly to humans and animals, and how they live with the one another. The anecdote about how a leaf falling into a river leads to increased plankton, which is the foundation of water life, was fascinating. This book also talked about how non-native trees get introduced and it made me think of the evil JNF and how they brought pine trees to Palestine, which are a fire hazard.

Listening to this book made me want to go walk in a forest.
