I'm sorry to rate this book so poorly but I expected so much more from Adriana Herrera having read her other short stories. I get the fast-pacing when it's about the sex part but in this case the romance part seemed sooo rushed I really couldn't understand why these women were suddenly so close emotionally. I get it we see some turning points but not as many as I woud like in order to feel and believe their relationship growing. I think you always have to show things rather than saying them and I know the author is capable of doing this because she already did in other novellas.
Hoping next read from her is going to be better, can't wait! :)
Let's start saying that it took me 2 years to try and surpass the first 20% of this book. Unfortunately that wasn't the whole problem. The first 65% of the book (her imprisonment in Dalos) was absolutely unbearable and repetitive. (I'd like to add useless but let's hope and wait for the next book to prove me wrong.)
The rest of the book was okay but having already wasted hundreds of pages it was not enough to save it. It was enjoyable and similar to other JLA romantasy books so that's good but I was so tired by the end of it.
The (I suppose it was intended to be) main plot twist of Ash not wanting to take the ambers from Sera and instead ascending her into the true Primal was predictable at page 3 I think. And I suppose this will be the key to also save Sotoria's soul to undergo the task of weakening Kolis once more in addition to figuratively and ultimately released Sera from her trauma with Kolis. Since we now have a true Primal of life Sera will be strong enough to save everyone in the final chapter.

Not giving 5⭐ only because if you're familiar with mates/omegaverse ff (as I am) then the plot is totally predictable from page 0 but I'm not here for the plot. Thank you so much Ali, you once again cooked, served and satiated your people. I'm so grateful for Koen you can't even begin to understand.
I really enjoyed it a lot but I know for sure that if I read it in another moment of my life, I would have LOVED it so much more! Can't wait to read the next one to see if it has an harder grip on me.
The characters are soooo good written it's crazy how human they are. And how common but always complex are their relationships and dynamics.
Can't wait to see what Ciara has in store for us all!

Superscorrevole, 0 impegnativo, a tratti divertente, ti mette quella sensazione di benessere perché sai già che andrà tutto come deve andare.
