This was another fun book in the Shopaholic series. Every time I think a book must be the end of the series, it looks like there's an opening for another one. Mini Shopaholic was full of crazy mishaps and elaborate plans, just like all the others.
A few things though. When I first started reading this series I think I was 19. Now I'm 27 and married. There were quite a few times when I wondered why she didn't just tell Luke something. I also wonder why all Becky's money seems to be separate.
All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to “Shopaholic in Hollywood” or whatever it will be.
I really enjoyed this book. It was light but interesting and very easy to get into right away. A good change from my last few books. I really liked all the theories and trivia about trends and the like. I am the sort of person who reads the social security baby names website and looks at the trends, so mention of name's “rankings” early on in the book really amused me.
Really fun book. I was a theatre major, so I enjoyed the theatre/acting story, the hotel was a great setting, and the characters were likable. I liked the writing style too. It wasn't a fantasy story, but it had the sort of crazy situations that made it just a little fantastical at times. It reminded me a bit of the Shopaholic books in that sense.
Another good book in this series. I've realized that not only does each book have a day of the week, each day is afflicted with one of the seven deadly sins. I kind of like this theme thing. I'm also beginning to think that this whole series might take place over the course of a week of “our time”. This was an enjoyable book with interesting characters and I think it's shaping up to be a good series as a whole.
This is my first of this type of “fae book” I think. I'm not sure if it's quite what I expected. Some parts seemed a bit too adult to me for a young adult book. I loved all the classical quotes before each chapter. I feel a little undecided about my opinion on this book. Maybe I'll have more of an opinion after I read the next one.
I didn't like it quite as well as the first one, but I'm still anxious to read the last installment. I thought some of the language was a little mature for a young adult book, though that's a problem I had with the first one too. It was a bit weird at the end, but I'm hoping it will pay off in the third book.
I was in such suspense through this book, and when Clary found out for sure that Jace wasn't really her brother, I called out “Finally!” aloud and my husband looked at me funny. This is definitely my favorite “urban fantasy” so far though I must say I haven't read many of them and I'm not sure how fond I am of the genre in general. I was completely hooked on this whole series and read it all in the span of a few days, compelled to keep going.
I think this is my favorite “urban fantasy” type book that I've read so far. I really liked the settings and was drawn to the characters. I was a bit confused at the end, I was sure some things would be straightened out, but let me say that I can't remember the last time I was so tempted to look ahead at spoilers for a book.
This was a wonderful fantasy adventure story. It felt classic and modern at the same time. I have read the original, but I've seen enough adaptations and things that I feel like Peter Pan is a modern fairy tale and this is a great treatment of it.
It was a really fun origin story, anyone who has even the least knowledge about Peter Pan will recognize how things are falling into place. The pirates, the island becoming neverland, etc. I felt connected to the character of Peter, and I loved the original character of Molly as well as the fun original elements of the Starcatchers and “star stuff”. I felt truly sad when Peter found out that he was not going to grow any older. I also liked that they never said how old he was, and implied that he was never really sure of his actual age anyway.
This book was really delightful and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
With all that's going on this time of year it seemed to take a while to finish this book. I liked it alot, it's a fun series with good characters and I'm looking forward to it continuing.
SpoilerThe only thing about this book that bothered me, and it bothered me through at least half of the second book was why Erec didn't think that King Piter was his father and the royal triplets were not dead. I realize with what happened after he found out that was why it was held back in the story, but it seemed like a bit of a stretch that he couldn't have guessed long before then. I had kind of assumed that he was a missing triplet at the end of the first book, but that may just be me thinking that “destined to be king” was equal to “heir to the throne” or “long lost prince”. That's the only reason this book got three stars instead of four.
Even with that factor, I really enjoyed this book. It was full of adventure, magic, friendship, etc. All the good stuff. I haven't looked to see how many more books are expected in this series, but I'm assuming there's at least one more based on how it ended and especially now that that whole question of Erec being the prince is worked out I'm really looking forward to the next volume.
