See allWhen I learned the news that Cindy Pham was having a book published, I was so excited to see what she wrote. I was not prepared for how real the emotions felt by our main characters would be or how deeply we would share in their suffering, ultimately witnessing such a beautiful ending. This is such a beautiful debut that I feel will touch many hearts. I appreciate that even though this is marketed as a young adult novel, it does not stray away from the very real and often dark emotions young people experience.
Truthfully, I have no idea how to rate this. I could envision exactly a version of Natalie could possibly be on Instagram. Being inside her mind was not easy on how she viewed herself as a woman or her purpose as a mother. It was prickly discomfort knowing that this is how people genuinely view the world. I’m so interested in seeing if this book will be one to stick with me and have me come back to it. It truly was such a roller-coaster of a book that I read it within two days.
This was such a beautiful book. I was moved to tears multiple times by how deeply this group loved and cared for one another. In certain sections of the book it held this tension that at any moment you feared for these characters safety. I felt that each main character was a multifaceted person and was not there to just propel another’s story forward.
