This book blew me away. Such unique tales that really make you use your brain. You feel as if you are “right there” in the story with the characters. I enjoyed ALL the stories and wasn't turned away by any. I definitely will be recommending this book to all my book reading friends and groups. A new favorite author!

I have pretty much learned by now, not to trust other people's reviews and ratings. Lol. Why oh why is this book rated so high? It's rated higher than some classics on here. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible...but GREAT, AMAZING? No.
I couldn't get invested in any of the characters. Too many sex scenes. The main reason I kept reading was a morbid curiosity about what horrors happened. There was just no emotion following it. I've seen people rate review this book as “life changing”,” horrid”,” most disturbing book ever”. Obviously they have never read real horror books. The content was rough,but it needed a better delivery to be felt. Too much bad romance trying to fill the gaps.Not enough, anyway, for me. Like I said, not a bad book, but people cease to amaze me these days with what they think is amazing writing .

I really enjoyed this story. Minnow was a great, strong character. I liked her sense of humor that she still managed to have after all she had been through. A story about belief, and how it's important to go searching for your own truth.

Great book! I loved it. I look so forward to reading more by Jeremy. But please...no more animal violence. I usually quit reading at that point.

Absolutely devoured this book in one setting. Now I have to go back and read this author's other books.

Unique take on the Zombie storyline. Loved it. Look forward to reading so much more from Eleanor.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a very moving tale of loss and the things we do when faced with extreme circumstances. A story about forgiveness and how to move on. I loved it. A definite page turner. Very sad at times, but full of hope as well.

Very interesting story with great characters. The ending (twist) was done nicely. Read in one setting. New take on a old trope.

Excellent. Creepy. I lost sleep. Boys and girls, cults are a no-no.

We sometimes let our cats out at night, reluctantly, of course. If you are like me, I have that one cat that just refuses to be indoor only. He will absolutely drive you insane until you let him out awhile. Of course, you know you risk him not returning (so many dangers) but you want him to be happy.
This story is about a cat just like mine. He MUST go exploring. He brings gifts of things he thieves from neighbors lol. It's funny and cute, if not aggravating, for a while;until one night, he brings home something that changes things forever.
Such a creepy little story. Gotta love cats and what they get into.

This was a very interesting read. I'm in Kentucky and have been my whole life, so I was automatically drawn to this book. I and people I know have seen, heard, and experienced some of the things in this book. Some of the stories and legends I had never heard of. Kentucky is indeed a “magical” place so I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the paranormal.

I love this authors writing style. She gives characters a disturbing, true light. Her novels Eileen and My Year were amaizing. These short stories were as well,I just prefer her longer stories because she is such a great story teller.

Wow. When a book is written in a context that could actually happen, that's horror. I highly, highly recommend this book.

Well. I have come to the conclusion that I am just not a Tremblay fan. I've tried! DADR was decent, but that's the only one I even somewhat cared for.
I didn't read all of the stories in this book, but after reading over half ..I just wasn't impressed.

This is one messed up, bleak tale. There are no happy endings here. But, it pulls you in. You feel so much for Roberta/Clyde. She has a story to tell, and what a story it is.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved how you felt an unknowing dread the entire time. Not knowing how things were going to turn. This is a supernatural thriller that just blew me away. The ending was fantastic. I will definitely be reading more by Mr. Gale and recommending this book to everyone I know.

The Bones of the Earth series has taken over my life. I'm “there”. These books are great and I don't know how more people don't know about them. This book is like a prequel. There are two books that better explain what's going on in the series and I recommend reading them before you start book 1 of Bones of the Earth. Amazing. Beautiful. Terrible. Horrible. All great things combined.

This book has everything! There's no way a person could lose interest! The author has such a way with words and details. The characters are interesting. This is my new favorite grimdark fantasy. I can't wait to read the rest of the books and I recommend to everyone I know.

Best set of short stories I've read in some time.

How is this series not talked about more?!?I loved this more than Harry Potter. A wonderful, dark new series to read. This may be tailored for younger audiences, but it is very dark and scary in parts. I would have loved it as a child, but I'd advise a read yourself before you let your children at it. I'm sure you'll adore it.

Wow! Where do I even begin? I have not been so taken over by a story in a very long time. The lore within this book is beautiful. (Russian) I loved the characters. I literally started this book this morning and just now finished it (2am) that's how wonderful it was. Now, I'm super excited to go on to book 2 and 3. Might need a slight break in between. .....Nawwwwwww. 😂

Oh.... This was deliciously weird. Like a really scary bad dream. This kind of story, I devour. I will never look at ducks the same way again.

I just don't love JHJ.

This was a decent little mystery book, and by little, I mean very short. It was not a bad book, by far... But nothing amazing. It was basically, a wam-bam-thank -you -mam of stories. Wish it had been a bit more thrilling.
