The story was too predictable and formulaic with characters were simple facades of typical stereotypes found in crime mysteries. Most annoying was that the subplot, which was never resolved, was more interesting than the main story line. Maybe the thread of the subplot through the rest of the series is enough for some readers to continue, for me I will move on.
The story takes place in small, remote Australian town. A terrible tragedy dredges up the past and the whole town spins out of control. The book is a very enjoyable and quick read, characters are compelling and will lead you on many twists and turns. The writing is great, you really start to feel the isolation and loneliness of a small outback rural community and the desperation of its citizens.
The character development in this book is very good and makes the book a great read. The plot is, in places, predictable but interesting none the less. I loved the way the story wove the characters together and how they interacted. Be warned that some of the passages are graphic (violence), nothing more than r rated but I thought I should mention them.
I highly recommend this book, I will be reading more by this author. She is very good.
It was a fun and interesting book with the expected twist at the end. There was a lot of stuff in the reveal that the reader did not know until the very end making it difficult to guess what was coming. I did enjoy the book and found the perspectives on ESP interesting and a new twist on its use. Overall I would recommend this book as worthy of a read, it is fun and quick to get through and is enjoyable.
This is a really interesting book which serves to setup the following tome in the series. It does get strange for awhile and seems to veer off in a tangent but it all comes together in the end. This book is highly acclaimed and while I liked it I am not sure if has delivered on all the hype. I will read the rest of the series and that may change my opinion but for now I would say it is just good.
