I had to read this book to catch up with my daughter's reading, and found a nice and lovely child's story. I liked the pace, the simple emotions, as well as the moral.
Even if I'm not fond of witches and that kind of stuff.

A very good page-turner, but mainly an excellent approach to a social matter. It is well written, despite perhaps a couple of predictable twists, but it doesn't matter! because the subject, and the original way to approach the concept, without exaggerations. That's everything in this “fiction”... or is it a metaphor? :s
Reality becomes fiction, and the fiction becomes real, year after year.

Humanity at its REAL best, inside and outside

Ingeniously written, free of cheap fantasy, it ties your feet to the ground, stretches up your mind to the unlimited possibilities of our kind, subtly pushes your heart with the wonderfully achieved natural nerdy suspense.

Please, PLEASE, don't ruin the movie Mr. Riddled Scott and Mr. Matt Damon. You better respect this one, Hollywood.

Great guidance by a passionate and experienced gardener and researcher

This book covers every important part of building an aquaponic system and introduces the rest of the concepts around in a very handy and enjoyable way.
The passion of the author is really helpful as she makes sure to explain the ideas from general to specific on a very successful structure, including summarizing rules of thumb, and common mistakes.

Although it is only a 3-chapters, 100-pages book and based on a pre-release of TypeScript, it does a wonderfull job describing the idea, the sintax, the present and past of TypeScript, and in such condensed format.
The only thing I'd liked to see is more practical examples, but it is still a great way of kickstart TypeScript into any project.

Excellent cover-it-all book, I really liked how Adam describes step by step the guts of ASP.NET MVC and how to replace every part of it.

This is the better source of TFS expertise I have found, and the content is excellent, specially the info about automated Build support. The only thing I think must be improved is a little less info about how it was in previous editions, and only for clearer reading sake (I suppose that info is geared toward people upgrading of course).

Its intended to be an overview of the process of building enterprise applications with .Net with a specific layered design, which implementation includes a specific (also common, robust and proven) stack like WPF/Silverlight as UI, MVVM pattern, and using whether Entity Framework or nHibernate as ORM. It starts by analyzing, designing (also explains UML briefly) and then follows up in development.
I think this book its an excellent idea, but it lacks some structure, and the author seems to be story-telling how he does development, with his particular (in my opinion some of them too purist) ideas rather than a better structured overview. Despite all this, I managed to learn a lot from it, but I'm not sure if a novice or intermediate with not enough knowledge of OOP will follow succesfully the book.

Despite its theoretical approach, Alistair Cockburn is my favorite author, thinker and inovator on the Software development field, and this book (its second and revised edition) explains a lot of the questions that make Software development an Art and a Science at the same time. Cockburn does the best job to understand the chaos of the game, whether the human interaction component or the technological solutions that development struggles to concrete.

Something between a cookbook and a field guide, very concise reference about Subversion, it only lacks more examples of a full control version strategy, or more info on how can be leveraged on different situations.

A Must-read of any tech human resources, hiring manager, talent acquisition professional, manager or entrepreneur in the tech industry. It is just a small book, full of excellent advise, outlining Joel's experience and example in its own company Fog Creek Software.

A really good eye and mind opener, one of the more pragmatic authors, I really like the way Spolsky thinks about the Software industry and the day-to-day of a software programmer and/or entrepreneur.

Divided in 52 tips, each and every one is pure gold on the carrer of a software developer, not only because of its excellent advise, but also because the way of thinking is very well tranfer through them: this pragmatism is all against fanatism on any tool, language, way of thinking, or way of solving things... unless it is a practical one.

Simply one of the best novels about the Pre-World War 2 scenario. Herman Wouk is an Excellent narrator

Sea ficción o no, no importa tanto.
