I was familiar enough with Greek myth and The Iliad to know what I was getting myself into, but I could never have predicted just how touching a retelling of Patroclus and Achilles' story would be. Knowing it would end with their deaths, I focused on their lives and romance and the little details that made the tale worth telling.
I rarely shed tears, but this captivating and beautiful novel brought me to the brink. Brilliant.
