Pros:
-The main story was ver interesting and engaging.
-The first chapter was very well done and draws you in immediately
-Hearing about all the hypotheical solutions to climate change was very interesting and makes you think about all the work people are doing behind closed doors in reality
Cons:
-I feel like some of the last chapters could be shortened as it turned into a romance/slice of life. I like these genres, but this was not in line with the rest of the book.
Overall, good read I would recommend to people interested in what a future might look like if we did more for the climate.
This is my first time reading a horror book, and historical fiction is a hit or miss for me, but this was a really good read! The positive recommendations and very well done cover got be to pick this up.
It is a short book but I didn't feel like it was missing anything. I enjoyed many of the characters and the the world building that Clark was able to do even though it's a shorter book. The action scenes were also well done.
The horror is of the body horror genre and I think psychological horror. I found it readable but I probably wouldn't be able to watch this if it was a movie haha.
Overall a good read. I plan to read more from Clark in the future and may read this again as an audio book.
Really good and definitely something you should pick up as a SF fan. This was the longest book I've read for leisure so far and it was all enjoyable. I will for sure be reading more from this author.
I also think it's one of those books where you are better off going in without knowing too much so I tried to be vague.
Pros
- story was interesting throughout
- I enjoyed the interactions between the main characters and I grew to like most characters
- there were many suspenseful moments but not to the point where it was hard to read
- many funny moments as well as some emotional moments (I did tear up 3 times at the end)
- scientific descriptions weren't not too hard to follow
Cons
- There are often scientific explanations throughout the book. not really a con, just something to note if you don't find it interest. I would still try to book though!
Took me longer than expected to get through this one. There were quite a few stories I found boring, but also enough interesting ones to keep me reading.
Maybe it would be more interesting if we got me of Jean's background? This is my first exposure to the character so maybe it's better with more knowledge.
I still plan to pick up the third volume since I want to know how the story ends.
This was a fun story! I picked it up since the author recommendeds this book if you like T.A.L.O.N Agency which I loved.
I enjoyed the main characters in this book. They were very different but also complimented each other well.
It's was like a sci fi/fanstsy treasury hunting story. I typical am not interested in the treasure hunting genre but the story was interesting and kept me engaged.
I am typically used to more slow burn romance/romance as a sub plot. I wanted to try something with more focus on romance. I think this may have been a bit too much in the other direction for me.
It was hard for me to feel excited for the relationship. I feel like the guy wasn't likeable at times, especially when he made comments that were very based in gender roles. Or, when he wanted to get violent over small things.
However it's an easy read with good spicy scenes, so if that's what you're looking for this may be a good book for you.
(spoiler free, just my thoughts)
I read Ocean's Echo and loved it, so obviously I had to pick up Winter's Orbit which I love even more! This is a book I couldn't stop picking up. I think I found my new favorite genre and author.
Pros
- I love the world building and the culture in the book. It's definitely something I would like to read more of
- The politics are not too hard to follow like some other books
- I of course enjoyed the romance, I think Everina writes about their connection beautifully
- I enjoyed the variety of different and interesting characters
- I definitely did not guess who the bad guy was in the end, so I like that it was not predictable
Cons
- There could be a bit more focus on the romance between the main characters. This is not necessarily a bad thing as the rest of the story was interesting. It just might be a bit disappointing for those who are here for the romance
- I got a bit tired of the miscommunication trope. Especially since the romance is not the main focus. I wish I got to see more of the main characters together after they realize they like each other
Overall I loved this book. If you're a fan of sci-fi with some romace you will probably enjoy this book!
My Nephew gave me this to read. I pretty much knew nothing about Pelé before this was a good intro. I like that there was a few paragraphs at the end further explaining events in the book. The artwork is also lovely.
This was a good series to keep me entertained on the commute. plot was entertaining throughout. Though it got quite graphic which was a bit much for me at times. overall recommended if you like this genre.
