I am honestly not 100% sure how I feel about this book. It was very dark and sad and parts of the storyline required some suspension of disbelief. However it also made me think about racism, society and our expectations of mothers. 


Part of the reason I only gave this book a 3.5 is that I did not like the ending at all - it felt very cliché and did not really fit the character, in my opinion.
