Sweet but not enough to overcome AI annoyances

I really wanted to rate this higher except I've become allergic to AI-assisted writing. Despite that, it was a decent read. It felt a little hurried but worth reading.

Really unfortunate how clear it was that it was AI-assisted writing. Maybe the time saved from AI filling in some of those scenes can be spent towards making it less obvious next time. I really wanted to like this, but the character connections felt forced, the dialogue awkward and stilted, and the characters were just kind of unlikable. I'd love to see a book from this author without the AI garbage, because I did really like what I read in between.
