The conundrums it presents are interesting and lead to reflection; but the characters are really forgettable and don't have much personality. Although the sci-fi elements are quite interesting and even impressive for when the book was written, the story is quite boring.
I read the translation from Pedro Jorge Romero to Spanish, which itself was not very good. My original review: "Ciudad Permutación es una novela que presenta cuestiones y perspectivas muy interesantes sobre la consciencia, el origen del universo y la vida misma. Sin embargo, la redacción y traducción es mejorable y los personajes no son muy memoriables. (Dios mío, María, que coñazo eres) - 6/10"
