2.5 Stars. I liked the writing style, just not the story. Perhaps I'm missing something (or wasn't in the mood for this kind of book), but because I didn't find it very relatable I struggled to connect, understand or get too invested in the characters and their stories. It's nice reading books set in Australia though. Overall, wasn't a huge fan.
Wowwee was very hard to put this one down. So well written. Although I remember thinking “surely they won't make the wedding planner the mother of the boy from their school”. Way too many coincidences towards the end which I really enjoyed but also felt like a bit too much? Maybe because I read it so quickly it just felt like a lot.
Regardless, really enjoyable and will be definitely looking out for more of Lucy Foleys books.
Didn't finish reading but found it super informative and unbiased. It was a shock to hear the extent of impact the pill has on the body, and the fact that most isn't common knowledge when so many people take this medication.
The author seemed pretty concerned they would say the wrong thing and seemed to justify themselves often before exploring topics to ensure their intention/message was clear and not misinterpreted. A lot of the topics would have been difficult to write about well without seeming sexist, but I think Dr Hill did a fantastic job.
Would highly recommend to anyone on/considering going on the pill. It's important to understand the impact the medication is having on your body so you can make an informed decision.
This book was very engaging and I loved how the storyline was so complex. One thing that did bother me was a lot of the casual sexism throughout the book. Although it probably have a more accurate representation of attitudes of that time period, I felt that it didn't need to be romanticised. But perhaps there's an element I'm missing.
I really loved Nina's character, particularly her strength and change in attitude towards the end.
Another great book by TJR. Would recommend.
Probably close to the most I've been attached to the main characters of a book. Such a great reminder to appreciate every day and moment and find the beauty in everything.
I also loved that the author tied in perspectives of other characters whose lives cross over with the main characters. It's one of my favourite things about the book.
It was so lovely being a part of this journey with these two characters, I felt like I was walking along with them for their end day.
May be a bit triggering for some, but I would still highly recommend it. I felt quite anxious while reading this book, but as it picked up I found myself appreciating my life a little more.
An easy and quick read. I always enjoy Christian's book. My only complaint is that there seemed to be a plot twist at the end just for the sake of it, rather then it making sense... or perhaps I'm just cranky because I thought I'd guessed the ending and then there was one final twist.
Nevertheless, a good story and worth the read.
So impressed with everything Mich and Zara do. If it weren't for the (very very few) points that I didn't agree with, I would have given this 5 stars, because the majority of the essays were incredible, often brining me to tears. This book is moving, inspiring and does an amazing job of making you feel a lot less alone in your 20's.
