Classic but ...

Read for book club; entertaining and intriguing to a degree, but not that enjoyable. Wolf Larsen is a fantastic character.

Good story

Good story, appealing characters. Made me want to read the Rebecca West book and learn more about the history of the whole area.

This is an amazing read. Mind-bending, but in a good way. You may have to read it twice to absorb it all.

Quick , thoughtful read

If you're trying to “be” versus just “do” this is a helpful book. Not preachy or overly simplified, like many. The stories are all real and sound like it and the tone is sincere; the pace flows. Your intelligence won't be insulted and you'll finish reading with practical inspiration to take into the day. Three stars only because this isn't my standard genre.

Beautiful style. Very visual and rhythmic. I didn't have strong feelings for the characters but that made it easier to read.

Very good. I didn't finish because it all gets dark and sad after a while, but that was life.

Loved it! Beautiful writing, draws you in so that you love the character while wanting to push him to do more. Deep writing versus so much contemporary writing that feels shallow.

Amazingly prescient! Definitely should read.
