I found this in a free little library near my Chicago apartment. I wasn't aware it was book three of a series until a few chapters in, but the author re-introduces all the characters and plotlines, so I wasn't lost. An easy, fun read – and as a new Chicagoan, the book introduced me to some local history.

After a short acclimation period to the names and language conventions, I got sucked into Edgerton's world. It pulls from pieces of existing lore and comes away as something unique. A piece of fiction that isn't quite like anything else I've read. Excited to find book two.

Reads as a fun vision of the future that carries a lot from the year it was written (in a good way).
