See allThe ending was less satisfying. The evil the woman did to the family was surprising. Like what make such evil fester in her mind, when her other siblings didn't seem to have that degree of cruel intentions. Also the death of that poor boy that wanted to belong was so sad
In comparative to the two books from the same author, this has a kinder ending with the good triumphant. There is a romance and family undertone to his books I have read that makes it more grounded to me.
The villain of the story was predictable. I understand what triggered her killing spree but there was some questionable thing like did she kill the sister of the first victim in the story, how did she morph to the sister, was there more to the disfigured baby, did the husband continue his conquest even at the beginning of the marriage and did she recognize his desire for women even when they are dead. I mourn for her that the most important moment in your life was a conquest and a writing in a journal. That would cause a break down.
The level of cruelty a man would inflict over the imagined concept of virginity is despicable and frightening.
