I found this book sitting on the new arrival shelf at the National Library and Archives of Quebec on one gorgeous Sunday. I was taking my sister there; another one of my attempts to try and get her to like books... (Mission failed, but I won't give up.) The beautiful cover caught my eye, and then the title, so simple, Swallow.
I had never heard of the author, Theanna Bischoff, but when I saw she was a Canadian author, I couldn't resist and check it out from the library, even though I have a mountain of books on my nightstand. It's nice to read books about places you know.
The writing style was absolutely delightful. I had read a few YA novels before this one, and the elegance of the writing was welcome. The story is told in one of those sad and nostalgic tons, with a tinge of regret. Something I really enjoy.
Darcy goes back and forth into her memories, sometimes she's in the present, sometimes in the past. The pace of the book isn't slow, even though you could feel it is. It's just laden with sadness (in a good way) and it flows really well. I can't remember any long and unnecessary descriptions.
I could relate a lot to her life, and so this book brought back a lot of memories. It was definitely an emotional read and I enjoyed every pages of it. The length was also perfect. Not too heavy, not to short.

4.5. I will be back with a review
First of all, I want to say that the cover is a bit misleading. You can see a picture of the TNT show on the front, and it says “A Rizzoli & Isles novel.” However, not only is Det. Jane Rizzoli barely present in the first three quarters of the book, but Dr. Maura Isles isn't even in this book! Nothing (well except one) in this book was ever talked about on the show though, so I can forgive the fact that Maura wasn't in this one.
50 pages in, and the disappointment was gone. Gerritsen has a very particular way of telling this story, and it sucks you in. I could barely put it down.

4.5 stars Paper cutà la chaîne un livre après l'autre j'ai juste ça des bibliothèques pleines
I loved it! Though, I was sad that we didn't see more of Détective Ryan/Brennan.. He was only mentioned briefly and my shippy heart wasn't satisfied :(
I loved Brennan's snark, it never fails to make me laugh!
5 stars Wonderful fairytale story! :) “But it's their wedding night!” protested September. “Surely, they would like to retire with milk and a nice book!”Best honeymoon ever.
In my newbie-ness, it took me a while to understand that when the drawings where in the shades of red it meant that it was in the past, like flashbacks, and that the blue was in the present. I was really confused at first, but once I figured it out, I was in love with the writing and drawing styles!
Even though the art is really simple, I thought it represented really well the geekiness of their world. The text/illustration ration was, in my opinion, really well balanced; it was definitely a great first graphic novel read!
I certainly recommend it to all the geeky graphic novel lovers and I can't wait to get my hands on Meanwhile, Shiga's first book.

1 angry star DNF'ed. Well, this was just bad. The drawings/colours were pretty meh, but the story was the freaking worst. The plot was okay-ish I suppose, but the execution was just a hot sexist mess. I couldn't even finish it. First, random people calling Bobbi “sweetheart” is just cringy. Bobbi would never let anyone talk to her like that. /WARNING NEXT POINT CAN BE TRIGGERING (mention of sexual assault)/Second, Bobbi has a nightmare stemming from her past, implying that Lincoln raped her (he drugged her and forced her to have sexual intercourse). So she tosses and turns all night, barely able to get any rest, and then the next morning, someone from her team basically tells her she looks like shit and when she said it's because she's barely slept, THEY MAKE A SEX JOKE. I'm super disappointed as there are barely any comics with Mockingbird out there, but I'd rather stick to fanfiction than to read crap like this one.
Great book :) I can't wait for the next one! They are just so light and make me forget adult crap, lol!
The Mice of Bistrot des 7 frères is a wonderful story that reminds me of Ratatouille. Please note that “Ratatouille” in French is pronounced “rah-tah-too-yah”, and not “rah-tah-too-yee” (pet peeve, I'm sorry).
It's a short little story that is both amusing and educational. The author included a list of the French words she used with the English translation and a pronunciation guide.
I really liked that Petite Michelle saved the day and that her name was added to the Bistrot's name: “Le Bistrot des 7 Frères et une soeur”.
And now onto the art! In my opinion, illustrations are as important in children's books as the actual story. The drawings are beautiful; simple and adorable. The colouring is superb. I really don't have anything negative to say about this book.
I recommend it to all the little girls and little boys who like a fun story starring charming little characters. I'm sure mom and dad wouldn't get tired of telling it over and over again!

3.5 stars I'm confused as to how a store dedicated to cookie cutters in a small town can survive but it's made me want to try out cookie decorating as a hobby!
I really realy like it, but I have to say the end was disappointing.. I was hoping for something better... But I guess it would have clashed with the purpose of the story.. lol. IDk.
BUT YEAH GREAAAT BOOK.
DNF'ing this one. I wanted to love this so much more. It's not that it's bad, but I don't think I have the britpop music knowledge to fully appreciate it. I also had no idea what was going on in issue #1. It just wasn't for me.
