See allThis is not a book for everyone. This is a gritty, no punches pulled kind of memoir with an unlikable narrator. I understand why people were frustrated with her choices from beginning to end.
However.
As the daughter of an alcoholic and a former cook, this is an extremely raw and authentic memoir on life in the culinary industry. Lauri is so honest about her fuck ups and shortcomings while writing in beautiful prose. It’s poignant and has several sections that actually made me laugh out loud. But it is a book that I understand not everyone will like.
