Recommended for: Fans of ‘Neverwhere', religious critism, and squids.

Mieville makes the absurd seem totally plausable and tells an entertaining story with believable characters. Probably the book I've enjoyed most in ten years. I have found my new favorite author.

This short story is not at all what I expected, in a bittersweet way. Expect tears if you decide to read this.

Cute story about a boy saving the world from Hell's demonic army. I enjoyed it overall, but I found the footnotes, clearly aiming at humorous “edutainment”, came off a bit condescending (even for a YA title). I would suggest doing your best to ignore the footnotes until you've finished the book.
