Bob Randall

Bob Randall was an American author, playwright, screenwriter and actor.

Born Stanley Goldstein in the Bronx New York, Randall was an advertising copywriter before he began to act. He had one acting part before he began to write novels. His first novel, The Fan, won an Edgar Award for best first novel and was adapted to film.

Randall wrote four novels, two plays, and the screenplay for one comedy series (Kate & Allie) and one miniseries (David’s Mother). He won an Emmy for David’s Mother.

Randall died of AIDS in 1995. He was survived by his partner of fifteen years, Gary Pratt.
