Emily Flake

Emily Flake is an American cartoonist and illustrator whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Time, McSweeney's, and many other publications. Her weekly comic strip Lulu Eightball has appeared in alternative newsweeklies since 2002. She is the author of several books including Mama Tried, These Things Ain't Gonna Smoke Themselves, and Joke in a Box: How to Write and Draw Jokes. She teaches cartooning at the School of Visual Arts and is the founder of St. Nell's Humor Writing Residency. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
