Enter the school's obligatory field trip - except this one has trials built into it, where you get expelled if you could not complete it satisfactorily! Here we see the budding relationship between Souma and Tadokoro Megumi, as well as get introduced to his self-declared rival Takumi Aldini. This is a great volume as the challenges are both inventive and the execution done really well. There's also an unrelated young-love story attached at the end. That one was nice too.
