I find reading Alexander McCall Smith's books to be very pleasant. His writing is very likeable. But I didn't find any of the characters in this book to be particularly fascinating, and as for plot, well, I couldn't really tell you what the book was about. What I liked most about the book was that it was set in Edinburgh, which I visited last year, so I loved imagining the locale.
