Edmund White is a patriarch of gay American literature. *A Boy's Own Story* is the first of his trio of autobiographical novels (followed by *The Beautiful Room Is Empty* and *The Farewell Symphony*).
It begins with experiments and realizations of adolescence and proceeds through his firsthand account of the Stonewall uprising.

Le récit, autobiographique me semble-t-il, a jeunesse d'un homosexuel américain. Cela m'avait marqué à l'époque où je commençais moi-même ma vie d'homosexuel provincial tout juste débarqué à Paris.
solid 4,5. i came across this book purely by accident and it was a very pleasant surprise. the writing was good and the main character was relatable (but expectedly so). i only wish it hadn't ended so abruptly because i have no idea where i could possibly acquire the next two books and i've become pretty invested in this boy's (own) story
