Leonora Logroño’s family owns the most beloved bakery in Rose Hill, Texas, spending their days conjuring delicious cookies and cakes for any occasion. And no occasion is more important than the annual Dia de los Muertos festival.
Leo hopes that this might be the year that she gets to help prepare for the big celebration—but, once again, she is told she’s too young. Sneaking out of school and down to the bakery, she discovers that her mother, aunt, and four older sisters have in fact been keeping a big secret: they’re brujas—witches of Mexican ancestry—who pour a little bit of sweet magic into everything that they bake.
Leo knows that she has magical ability as well and is more determined than ever to join the family business—even if she can’t let her mama and hermanas know about it yet.
And when her best friend, Caroline, has a problem that needs solving, Leo has the perfect opportunity to try out her craft. It’s just one little spell, after all…what could possibly go wrong?

The best book I really enjoyed it! It was written very well and Leo was a great character. Her sisters were amazing too and I can't wait to read her stories as an Spoileroffical bruja!
Leo is 11 and want to conquer the world but seems to always be too little for everything. These days she is sure her parents are hiding something from her and she is ready to know what it is.
Cute, funny and magical. This book will juste warm you up from the inside. Just the fact that Leo's family is making magic through bakery is adorable ! Who doesn't want to do that ?? Even if Leo is making mistakes she is just full of good intentions. This book is adapted to younger of older people. Like I said it's cute and magical. The writing is good and the story correctly paced.
I really recommend it.
5 stars I absolutely love this book! I never wanted it to end. I can't wait to find out what Leonora (and Caroline) gets into in the next one. Such a sweet story about friendship, family and baking with a little touch of magic :D I highly recommend it.
