A Lady Never Tells

Maybe I'm just dull, but how does the title relate to the content of the book?
Also, wasn't it a little obvious who wanted Rose kidnapped? It couldn't have been this one guy, and it was too unlikely for it to be this guy, so that leaves it to this guy, right?
