What's better than a second chance romance? An emotional second chance romance written by Sarina Bowen! Sarina Bowen is one of my favorite romance authors and she did not disappoint with A Little too Late.
Reed and Ava had me at hello! They dated in college, but things didn't quite work out. However, even though it's been years, they never moved on from each other.
Reed comes back to his home town, after his father informed him and his two brothers that things would be changing in his life. As soon as Reed steps into his father office, he runs into Ava and everything in him comes alive.
Ava has been working for Reed's dad for years. Running into Reed was never a concern of hers because he never came to his hometown. So, she's stunned when he suddenly materializes in front of her desk. And the spark is definitely still there.
This story was super emotional! I loved how Sarina Bowen set up Reed and Ava's history together and their backstory. Their fears and dreams, their feelings for each other, and I loved how they opened up to each other. It felt natural, inevitable. These two belonged together!
It was really interesting how both of them were aware that they didn't move on from each other. There were some very steamy moments too (bathtub... Whoa!) their chemistry was fantastic! But I think the strongest aspect in their story was their emotional connection. Perfection! The setting was amazing too! I wanted to go skiing after reading it. The secondary characters, especially Ava's coworkers and friend and Reed's assistant were funny and interesting too.
Overall, A Little too Late was a perfect opening to this series. It was an emotional romance, with great characters, steamy moments, so much love, and very interesting secondary characters. I loved this one! Highly recommend it. Can't wait to read the next one in the Madigan Mountain series.
