I almost did not make it through this book, but once I got past the first three chapters I was hooked. A great deal of the meat of the story unfolds slowly through flashbacks. This is a modern re-telling of Sleeping Beauty. I would recommend it for those who love a modern spin to an old story.
As a main character, Rose is fine. The supporting characters are rather undeveloped. I half wonder if there is a more interesting story buried in this novel- Otto's story.
Overall, it is good read. I couldn't help shake the idea that everything would have gone differently if Rose would have been from a different social strata instead of “princess” of some conglomeration.
