This was terrible. The most stupid misunderstanding I've ever read in recent memory is the basis for the conflict that drives the plot forward, and not only are these characters completely insipid but they create contrived, senseless conflicts out of nothing.
Spoilers in the discussion below
Firstly, Asada falls ‘in love' with Nao after only a few days. It was way too instalovey and not believable whatsoever.
Conflict ensues and Nao holds a grudge against Asada for 3 goddamn years because Nao told him “Don't go to France!”
That's it.
No “Why don't you want me to go to France?” no asking for explanations, he responds with absolutely nothing. Like what? It was one fucking sentence and you're pissed without asking for any explanations? What the hell is there to be mad about? It was so stupid and the fact that THIS is what the story progresses from just baffles me.
Fast forward three years, in the present, Nao and Asada cross paths for a work related thing but Nao is still pissy and keeps running away from Asada. But guess what? On one page, he is literally running away from Asada for no good reason whatsoever, and on the next page he apologizes to Asada for being mad. What? Make it make sense please! It was so abrupt and illogical that I was flabbergasted at the fact that that scene was an actual authorial choice.
Next, we see yet another contrived, ridiculously stupid misunderstanding. Nao and Asada later end up being intimate with one another, and immediately afterward Asada is mad at Nao and says he hates him. This would have made complete sense if Asada was frustrated about consent (Nao continues being intimate even after Asada tells him to stop), but no! A completely understandable and justified reason for conflict is RIGHT THERE and yet the author chose to create this conflict based off of nothing that made sense. All of a sudden Asada develops an inferiority complex and “realizes” he can't be happy with Nao (where the hell did this line of thinking come from?) But after a few pages, he again realizes he made a mistake and loves Nao...
For christ's sake, MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Don't even get me started on the characters. They were completely flat and had no distinguishable personalities or characteristics from one another. Nothing about this was worth reading. Nothing.
I'll end this rant by apologizing for being so harsh as I'm certain that the author must have put a lot of work into creating this, but I just had to say it.
