This book is very very funny. Relentlessly funny and it is almost distracting, I lost the plot some times because I was laughing so hard. That is my only big problem. The world that VanderMeer created for here is recognizable but distinctly different, very enjoyable to explore. The characters are solid and the alt world folks really serve the humor well. VanderMeer's writing is excellent. So why 3 stars? Well, if 3.5 was possible I would do it but it is not. Like I said the humor is relentless at times distracting and in a work that is long, 21 hours in audiobook, it felt like it wandered at times? Unfair? Or was I just impatient? Recommended but I suggest taking it in chunks because there is a lot going on here.
