A Piece of Cake is a short story from Roald Dahl, often read published within The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More (1977) , or Over To You (1945) .
The work is an autobiographical account of Dahl's time as a fighter pilot in the Second World War. In it, he details how he was injured and eventually forced to leave the Mediterranean arena. The story was originally composed for C. S. Forester, for him to rewrite and edit, but he was so impressed that he sent it without modification to his agent, who had it published (as Shot Down Over Libya) in the Saturday Evening Post - and in one fell swoop, Dahl's writing career commenced.

Roald Dahl has a unique way of bringing words to life. I read this after reading ‘Lucky Break' as he mentioned it being his first ever story to have been published.
