BLUF: Cozy mystery lead by an amateur sleuth.
I was provided a copy of this book from netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review
Plot: After a customer is found dead outside her tearoom, Gemma races to find the killer before her tearoom meets the same fate.
My Thoughts: Gemma is dead set on finding the killer, even before she realizes that the unsolved murder is a threat to her business. It's unusual for me to read a book where the protagonist has no real reason to pursue the murderer outside of her personal curiosity.
I didn't stop to ask myself why I was even doing this. Why was it so important to find out if my suspicions about the American had been right? Was it Cassie's skeptical attitude? Or Devlin's offhand manner with me that morning? Maybe it was just my own nosiness, I thought with a wry smile.

A Scone to Die For
Totally surprised
I enjoyed getting to know Gemma and Cassie. Gemma's mom grew on me through the story. There were a few secrets to be uncovered and they kept me guessing about what had happened. It ended up that I was completely wrong.
It does seem like a love triangle is building. I don't like that. And there were a couple attitudes that seems odd to me as well.
Overall, I really liked the setting of being near Oxford and Gemma is an interesting character.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I thought it would be one of those silly, eye-roll worthy books but it was pretty good. I prefer more serious, intense mysteries over the cozies. The thing with the mom not remembering her iPad password so often was over-exaggerated but it was still funny because I have one of those parents. So there are definitely some funny moments that made me chuckle or groan with understanding. I´m also not a big fan of mystery books that involve cats but this wasn´t so bad. The cat was just a cat with good timing but I do want to know where miss cat was hiding.
Gemma had a great job and was making great money but she wasn´t happy with her life. She decides to move back home to England and open a tearoom. She loves it and business is good until she comes to open the tearoom one morning and finds a man in the courtyard dead. It appeared he had choked on a scone. The news ended up being very bad for business and she realized she needed to do some investigating on her own or her business would be dead too.
