Why?

Because I can't stand the main character. I mean, three pages in and I already hated him. And, also, because judging from the synopsis I thought this was going to be a book about two old friends righting wrongs of the monarchy and, you know, fighting the good fight together and all that jazz. It's not. I was wrong. The synopsis is misleading. One of them is assassinated.
